SAVE AMERICA'S CHILDREN:  Our children are our most prized possessions.  Do you know what to do if your child is kidnapped or missing?  If not, then you may have your local law enforcement agency contact the U.S. Department of Justice, National Institute of Justice, Criminal Reference Service, Rockville, Maryland to obtain our manual: THE COBRA SENTINEL--HELP SAVE A CHILD which we wrote and published in 1980 and the U.S. Department of Justice took over the publication of the manual in 1983 because we could not keep up with the demand for the action manual.

Don Bennafield, President & Founder of Bennafield Enterprises, Inc., ran a normal nonprofit self help development agency when suddenly his oldest daughter Venus disappeared.  He was panic stricken, even ran photos in the local newspapers. The Police Department in those years had no knowledge whatsoever on how to locate missing children.  Neither did Bennafield. Consequently, he heard of several agencies and contacted them.  The end result, a new concept was created and Cobra Connection Global Missing Children Network was born.  Now known as Cobra Missing Children Network. Don Bennafield became National President, Thor Thunder the Chief Investigator, Craig Shell of Medina, Ohio, Investigator, Darla Hubbard Contrucci, Investigator, Karen Spradling, Investigator, Cheryl Hatcher, Secretary. And the Bureau of Missing Children based out of Florida provided Cobra with 3,600 private investigators working Pro Bono. With the new concept Kathy Wamsley and Judy Byrd of the National Organization of Women volunteered their services and went on speaking engagements at hospitals, television stations and all over Ohio enlightening people what to look for and how to find missing children. The end result, Cobra was successful in returning over 4,989 runaway, missing and kidnapped children to their families, including the founder's daughter, Venus.  OUR MAJOR ADVISORS DURING THESE FORMATIVE YEARS WERE: DEE SCOFIELD AWARENESS PROGRAM; ADAM WALSH RESOURCE CENTER; FIND ME, INC.,; BUREAU OF MISSING CHILDREN; AKRON, OHIO POLICE DEPARTMENT AND PRESIDENT OF CANTON CITY COUNCIL, MR. RAY DENCZAK.

The Cobra Connection was the 6th missing children agency in the United States and the first global missing children network, negotiating contracts with other missing children agencies and with the help of ex-Congresswoman Mary Rose Oakar and her chief aide Mr. Al Kosen and the investigators, Cobra continued to find and return kidnapped children and runaways. And where the runaways were concerned, it became a known fact that they all congregate in Florida. And so they were picked up also. With such successes, Cobra received citations from the Governor of Ohio, Mr. Celeste and from the Mayor of the City of Canton, Mr. Sam Purses and other citations from numerous organizations. We were also summoned to the State Capitol on several occasions in Ohio to testify and instrumental in getting the toughest missing children legislation ever in existence enacted in the State of Ohio, Senate Bill 321 as introduced by the then Senator Lee I. Fisher.

Moreover, much of this work we would have been unable to do if it had not been for organizations and companies, such as: Envirite Corporation of Canton, Ohio with cash donations; Paris Church, Paris, Ohio with cash donations; Bill Phillips and the Home Beverage Company of Stark County with cash donations; North Canton TV & Appliance and Robinson Electronics with the donation of video producing equipment for filming and getting the word out on missing children and runaways. Mr. Quinn of Eppy's Chevrolet and Main Street Motors with a donation of a vehicle; Mr. Dave Ewing of Ewing Chevrolet with the donation of two vehicles; Forrest Motors Wholesale Corporation with the donation of a vehicle; Mark Armstead of Armstead Motors with the donation of a vehicle; Mrs. Sandra McLaughlin and Larry Harris of  Our House Cafe and Downtown Canton Computers with donations of computer equipment; Stark County Community Foundation with the donation of six computer systems, and the list goes on.  Every help received helped our investigators to continue to have transportation to other states and counties to search for and return missing children. We had one vehicle shot up bringing a child out of Pennsylvania, and another out of  West Virginia.

A special mention goes here for Craig Shell and his stamina in running down parental kidnappers and what he had to go through.  One case comes to mind in particular, chasing a lady named Hollywood Conforti and her lover a disbarred Attorney from the State of  Florida to Hawaii, and then getting beat up, shot at and all else to discourage him from running Hollywood down. Being physically threatened by groups of men to back off, which Craig refused to do. Unable to get Craig off their back, Hollywood and her lover returned to the United States and decided to hide out in Ohio. Again Craig ran them down, and with other undercover agents to help box them in, the two were arrested. The disbarred lawyer's last comment was, quote, "I have never been afraid of any thing in my life, but when we learned Cobra was after us, I was terrified."  Most people are when Cobra takes a case.  We still praise Craig Shell to the present day for all the things that he went through with enormous stamina that the other agents haven't encountered as of yet. The Akron Police Department of Ohio also praised Cobra for its work and how well they and the organization gets along together.

As outlined, you too can get involved and by becoming involved, you would also be helping the missing, kidnapped and runaway children of America.
